Miami Dade College Teams Up with Correlation One to Build New Paths to Prosperity in Data Science

MDC LogoWe are excited to welcome Miami Dade College (MDC) to the Data Science for All ecosystem!  Through our partnership, MDC students who complete the DS4A / Empowerment data science training program will receive credit towards a bachelor's in data analytics at MDC, reducing their overall tuition, and will be connected with employment opportunities at SoftBank and their portfolio companies.

This partnership is built on the shared mission of both our organizations, to create economic opportunity through education in the most in-demand fields.  As the nation's most diverse higher learning institution serving mostly minority students and the community at large, MDC is committed to providing affordable and accessible programs aligned to the labor market's most in-demand fields, including data science, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and more.

In a press release today, Antonio Delgado, Dean of Engineering, Technology and Design at MDC said of the partnership:

"Our mission is to empower students with a ticket to economic growth. We're rewiring the labor market to not just provide students with the skills that employers need but also ensure that when they graduate, they're already on the path to economic mobility."

Writing about the partnership in The Job, veteran journalist Paul Fain said:

"A newly announced public-private partnership between Miami Dade College, SoftBank, and Correlation One could be a model for creating more tech career opportunities for job seekers from underrepresented groups. And Correlation One’s approach to assessment is worth watching."

We look forward to sharing more success stories as our Fellows begin to leverage their new skills, create impact, and are hired into the most in-demand jobs in the country.
