EMPOWERING THE DATA-DRIVEN LEADERS OF TOMORROW

This professional Career Accelerator program spans four weeks of live online workshops from March to April 2024, aimed at enhancing your career skills and equipping you with effective strategies to secure your next role in the data industry.

During the program, you'll actively participate in live online workshops focused on Data Storytelling and professional development, gaining invaluable insights and success strategies for the industry to help become a competent data candidate in the industry. Furthermore, collaborative learning experiences will foster interpersonal skills and expand your professional network among diverse peers in the data field.

Our team of expert Professional Coaches and Data Literacy Instructors will lead these workshops, complemented by self-study assignments post-sessions and opportunities for one-on-one coaching throughout the program. Charlene Wu

LEAD STAFF BEHAVIORAL SCIENTIST AND LEADER OF THE MACHINE ASSISTED COGNITION TEAM, TOYOTA RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Charlene Wu is the Lead Staff Behavioral Scientist and leader of the Machine Assisted Cognition team (MAC) at the Toyota Research Institute. MAC conducts cutting-edge research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, behavioral science, and human computer interaction to develop novel technologies that improve our prediction and understanding of human behavior. Previously, Charlene founded and led behavioral science teams at Airbnb and Uber. Charlene holds a Bachelor's degree in economics and psychology from UCLA and a Master's and Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University. Charlene completed her dissertation in neuroeconomics - she examined how neural activity associated with emotion predicted financial risk-taking behavior both inside and outside of the lab. Charlene was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, and her work has been featured in the Huffington Post as "7 Cool New Findings About the Brain.

She holds a PhD in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Michigan, a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MS in Computer Science from UCLA.

This program is intended for current data professionals with a minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience or Masters/ PhD Students with work experience, who have a desire to pursue a career in a data analytics/ data science role. Applicants should meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a data-related role (such as data analyst, BI analyst, Data Scientist, etc.) OR working extensively with data in their current position (e.g., Marketing Analyst).
  • Proficiency in one of the following languages: Python, R, SQL, SageMath (must)
  • Proficiency in one of the following visualization tools: PowerBI, Domo (good to have)

Is the DS4A Fellowship free?

Yes, the program is 100% FREE for accepted Fellows. We believe that cost should never be a barrier to learning, so we constructed the program so you don’t have to pay to participate. The program is funded entirely through the generosity of our Employer Partners who want to meet and hire our exceptional Fellows.

 

When and where is DS4A Career Accelerator 2024 Fellowship taking place?

The DS4A Career Accelerator 2024 program includes four weeks of live online workshops between March and April 2024. The program includes live online professional development workshops focusing on enhancing your skills and providing application best practices for landing your next job in the data field. Additionally, the program helps build interpersonal skills and expand your professional network with other diverse professionals in the data sector

 

What is the Weekly Time Commitment?

Fellows are expected to commit ~3 hours per week. This is inclusive of time within live workshops as well as assignments to be completed outside of class.

Who is this program designed for?

This program is designed for current data professionals with at least 2-3 years of professional experience. It is suitable for individuals working in data roles such as data analysts, BI analysts, and data scientists with  legal residence in the United States

 

What are the minimum qualifications for applicants?

Applicants to the DS4A Fellowship should meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience working in a data role or working with data in their current role

  • Proficiency in one of the following languages: Python, R, SQL, SageMath (must)

  • Proficiency in one of the following visualization tools: PowerBI, Domo (good to have)

  • Legal residence and authorization to work in the United States

 

What happens at the end of the program?

The program will conclude with a Finale event on April 27th, 2024, marking the end of the four-week program.

 

What is the application process for the DS4A Fellowship?

The application process consists of three steps:

  1. Complete an application form, which takes approximately 30 minutes and helps the program understand your personal experiences, career goals, and current exposure to data tools.

  2. Take a one-hour technical skills assessment that covers core data industry skills, including SQL, Python, and Relational Databases.

  3. Eligible applicants who pass the assessment will be invited to an interview as the final step of the application process.

 

Is the DS4A Career Accelerator Fellowship available internationally?

DS4A Career Accelerator Fellowship is currently only open to individuals who reside and may legally work in the United States.  This is due to the time zone for the live classes and group work over the 4 weeks, and also the location of jobs promoted to the class by our Employer Partners. We are actively exploring opportunities to expand the program to other regions, and encourage you to follow us on LinkedIn to be notified about new courses.

 

How will I learn whether I got into the program?

You will receive an email from the Correlation One team, to let you know whether you’ve been accepted into the program. If you are accepted, they will also let you know how to make sure you’re ready for the program on day one!

 

Can I keep doing my regular job during the program?

Of course! Our goal is to build the most flexible program for people with busy work and personal lives. With flexible hours, virtual content, and an instructor staff ready to accommodate your needs, you’ll be able to succeed regardless of how busy you are.

 

How will I find potential new jobs through the program?

Our program is designed to help you in your job search, every step of the way. You’ll also be able to hear from and network with top companies during live Employer info sessions and events. In addition, you’ll have access to job opportunities through our online platform, which links you directly with hiring companies.

 

Will I earn a certificate?

Yes! All Fellows who fulfill the graduation requirements will receive a signed certificate from Correlation One. The DS4A certificate is great to showcase to your network and potential employers via LinkedIn.

 

What is on the assessment?

We will be testing whether you meet the prerequisites for the program, primary data-driven reasoning, and programming skills. The assessment will take about an hour to complete.
