IAM is a framework of policies, technologies, and processes that ensure the right individuals have appropriate access to systems and data while preventing unauthorized access. SSO is an authentication method that allows users to log in once and gain access to multiple systems or applications without re-entering credentials, improving both usability and security. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) assigns permissions based on a user's role within an organization. It enforces least privilege, ensures users only access what their job requires, and simplifies access management at scale. Authentication verifies the identity of a user or system, typically through passwords or multi-factor methods. Authorization determines what resources an authenticated user is permitted to access. EDR solutions continuously monitor endpoint devices for suspicious behavior, collect telemetry data, and provide detection, investigation, and response capabilities to identify and contain threats at the device level.
